  I use this lamp for reading fo pleasure. Without question, It fills the bill. There is not another like it, as far as I can see.

  excellent light, foot-pedal could be placed away from the main base, i.e. along the cable to make it more accessible.

  Don't buy this - stopped working after 4 years

  One of two Alex lights that my father bought. Both stopped working after 4 years - convenient apparently since the warranty was 4 years. I tried to fix one but couldn't. Didn't bother with the other. I really would not recommend these lights given the family experience.

• How complex is the construction required? I’m wondering whether it requires a screwdriver - trying to gauge it for my elderly mother
  None whatsoever. It is fully hand-built in our factory in Aylesbury and just needs taking out of the box and plugging into the wall socket.

• My serious light comes with an extension. How do I insert it to make the stand taller?
