The connector on the lamp had become intermittent, no doubt because the only way to make the lamp completely dark was to disconnect it from the mains. If left connected, the lamp emitted a faint glow which was enough to disturb sleep.A helpful user answered my question stating that this lamp is completely dark when turned off and I am pleased to confirm this. The control panel green led does glow for a few seconds but afterwards the lamp is dark. I'm not fussed about colours, although these work, and the lamp doesn't get super bright, but its great for my needs.
