  I have been a long time wearer of Birkenstocks and tend to buy a new pair every one or two years, I've travelled far with them across lots of continents and they've seen me through some pretty prolific walks! If you're new to Birks then don't fear when you first put them on. They often feel a bit uncomfortable and unnatural, just wear them in over a week or two. I tend to start wearing them on small walks and then gradually increase it. Soon enough they'll start moulding to your feet and they will feel so natural! You might need to tighten the buckle after a while as your foot sinks into the sole. A few words of advice with Birkenstocks- try not to get them too wet, they can get a bit smelly and not really made for crossing rivers (or big puddles if you live in England!) A little water won't hurt them though- these are prone to smelling after a long while, I tend to alternate shoes, they like to have a good bake in the sun, otherwise other ways you can make them smell less is putting them in a bag in the freezer, tea tree oil or baking soda. Don't let this put you off though, they are made from natural materials!- Don't get fooled into buying the cheaper versions in TK Maxx, they're often more plastic and not the same quality as these- I'm a size 6 normally but always get a size 5 in Birkenstocks. They advise going bigger but i prefer them to fit snugly

  I had a pair of these previously but our local fox took a liking to them as they were by the back door. They are perfect and I love them as they jazz up an outfit. I have collapsed discs in the bottom of my back and I wear Birkenstock’s most of the time. They are great for me.

  My size 5 feet fits perfectly

  I’m usually size five but with Birkenstock’s I’ve bought size four-37. I decided to try size 36 which fits just right with no part of my foot hang over. I tried another colour in the shops and bought the amazon ones for a lot cheaper. Birkies tend to be bit stiff and mould into your feet after few weeks and these were comfy straightaway. I’ve got six pairs and love my Madrid’s. Wore these red ones all summer.

  The sandal turned up and looked much more shiny red and plasticy than the photo. The synthetic material dug into my foot on top and caused a rubbing injury the first time I tried them on. I thought Birkenstocks were supposed to be comfortable and easy to wear but these were agony. Maybe just my thin feet but not for me and I won't be purchasing any others.

  The name says it all, Ive worn these for years, and will be getting some more, I recommend you go a size down as they are really generous with the sizes, I'm normally a size 8, but due to experience I order a size 7 and they fit comfortably, if I brought a size 8, they would have been too big, I wear mine all the time, so comfy.

  I absolutely LOVE my Birkenstock sandals: the most comfortable slips on to wear in extremely hot climates. They minimise swollen feet, I'm sure of it.I have several pairs of Bs but was silly not to take note of the feedback of others and order a smaller size. I wish I had. My pair arrived (usual size) and are too big but I have been wearing them anyway and getting along fine with them but if I order another pair of the Madrid model, I will order a smaller size.

  Repeated buy. Take a ladies size 7UK or 39 for same fit European size which I believe is a 6, however they fit perfect and can adjust width to suit. I have a broad foot but these are my best go-2 sandal yet

  I'd recommend going down one size smaller than usual

  Lovely stylish sandles I've been wearing Birkenstock for years however, I'd recommend going down one size smaller than usual! I'm a size UK 5 and buy UK 4 they fit perfectly and feel so comfortable even after walking around for hours.Great value for money as these sandles will last you for years if you take care of them and clean them properly.

  I'm new to Birkenstocks and these are my first. I have small feet with high insteps so find ordinary flipflops too flat. These are very comfortable and look good too. Just wish we'd had a better summer to wear them more often. Maybe next year..... I will buy Birkenstocks again when these get tired.
